March, 2020 from the Pastor
We are in the 40 days of Lent.
We recall Jesus’ time of 40 days in the wilderness when he struggled
to know how to begin his ministry and how to use his divine power.
He went without food and water. He relied on the Word of God to
sustain and guide him. He was ministered to by angels and he
emerged ready to preach, heal, and forgive. He gathered all people
into God’s kingdom.
We began Lent with Ash Wednesday, recalling our mortal frailty and
our mistakes. As we continue through Lent we are encouraged to
pray, fast and give freely in acts of love and mercy.
Perhaps we are inclined to “give something up.” We may fast from
sweets or fast from gossiping. Maybe we will organize our prayer life
by setting aside some time each day to talk with God. Maybe we will
find a way to give of ourselves in service to others.
However we observe this forty day time, we know that it will culminate
in an Easter remembrance of the life, death and victory of Jesus.
This comes with love,
